A visitor from the past

One Sunday while we were sitting outside, a man pulled up on a Harley and turned his bike off. Fred walked over and they started chatting. Come to find out, this visitor was Tom Cochran, a grandson of Grace and Richard Bennett, the original builders of our home in 1911. Tom lives in Boise, and took a drive to MH to see the old house. We invited him into our home, and it was so interesting to listen to his stories about his grandparent Bennetts home... how he hesitated walking into his grandmother's bedroom (our TV room) and that he was never allowed to go in there, and how the back bedroom was built for his young mother who had lost her husband of less than a year in the war, and she returned to MH to live with her mother. When Tom walked upstairs he said the house still smelled as it did back in the 50's and 60's when he was growing up. He shared many memories with us about his family days in the old Bennett house on 8th Street. We told Tom where his cousin Barb Bennett Turner lived just a few blocks away and as he left he said he might drop in and pay her a visit. I hope he did. Thanks Tom for the stories on our historical house in Mountain Home.
